Center Core Bangers

Center Core Bangers

Center Core Bangers have a small square or cylinder of additional glass in the center of the banger bottom. With additional quartz in the center, these dab bangers offer more surface area for heating a dab & heat retention than other dab nails. Some center core quartz bangers even have thermochromic sand inside to help with gauging the bangers temp when taking a dab. It's the original dabbing temperature thermometer.

Also known as a core reactor or quartz core banger, they are designed with a 4mm thick, 10mm diameter solid quartz cylinder at the bottom of the bucket, sometimes varying in size of shape. This "quartz core" serves two primary functions: improved heat retention and increased surface area.

Compared to a regular quartz bucket banger, the quartz cylinder significantly enhances heat retention and surface area, allowing for more efficient vaporization of your dabs with minimal waste. The increased surface area combined with better heat retention ensures that your concentrates vaporize completely, reducing any leftover residue.

One crucial concept in dabbing is the banger’s vaporization rate, which is influenced by the surface area and temperature. This rate determines the ideal dab size that the banger can handle efficiently, also known as the saturation rate. The center core directly impacts both the temperature and surface area. The center core maintains heat while expanding the usable surface area for vaporization.

Heat retention becomes even more important when using a dab torch. As soon as the torch is removed, the temperature of the banger begins to drop. However, with the center core banger, the initial temperature drop is minimized due to the thick quartz cylinder. This ensures a more stable temperature, leading to more efficient vaporization of your concentrates. The thick quartz is intentionally used for its superior ability to hold heat.

For optimal performance, pairing these bangers with a spinner carb cap and two terp pearls enhances airflow and maximizes vaporization, outperforming directional or non-airflow carb caps. It's best if the spinner carb cap is either the periscope style or the bell vortex spinner carb cap to have the proper airflow along the outer wall of the banger, versus a bubble spinner carb cap which has its airflow more centered in the middle of the banger.

Center Core Banger FAQ

Center Core Bangers have a small square or cylindrical piece of extra glass at the center of the banger's bucket's base. This added quartz enhances the surface area and heat retention  of the banger for added vaporization capabilities. There are many different styles of center core bangers, from the simple quartz center core bangers to opaque. There is even a line of center core bangers with a cadmium core, which aids in measuring the banger's temperature during dabbing, acting as an innovative dabbing temperature gauge.

When pairing a carb cap and insert with a center core banger, utilizing terp pearls along with a spinner carb cap, or a directional carb cap with an extended nozzle, works best.

Here are some excellent spinner carb caps and some great terp pearl options.

Depending upon the style of center core banger the advantages can vary. With any center core banger you are increasing the surface area of the banger. As we already know, the vaporization rate, the amount of a dab a banger can vaporize is impacted by the temperature of the banger or nail X the surface area of that banger or nail. By increasing the surface area of the banger a 25mm center core bucket banger is able to vaporize a larger dab than a 25mm bucket banger with no center core.

Next is the heat retention. Not only is the vaporization rate increased by the increased surface area but the heat retention of the banger is increased, allowing for my consistent temperature dabs. When paired with an enail, for a banger such as the 25mm center core enail banger, the advantage lies with the increased surface area.
