Control Tower Bangers

What makes a Control Tower Banger so unique?

When delving into the art of dabbing, two crucial factors come into play: the vaporization rate and the saturation rate. Essentially, it's about striking the perfect balance - how much of a dab can you introduce into a banger that will vaporize effectively without resulting in charred remnants or puddles?

Of these two components, our focus here is the vaporization rate, which is influenced by the surface temperature and surface area. A larger, uniformly heated surface ensures that any dab size can be heated evenly. Imagine two pots on a stove - one small and the other large. Both are heated for exactly two minutes. Add a single drop of water to each, and it will evaporate instantly. However, when you pour half a cup of water into both, the smaller pot can only vaporize the water briefly before being overwhelmed, causing it to cool down and take time to reheat. Meanwhile, the larger pot effortlessly vaporizes the entire half cup in mere moments.

Drawing a parallel, we're enhancing the banger's surface area in a highly efficient manner. This expanded, evenly distributed surface, when heated uniformly, results in a consistent vaporization rate. The outcome? A meticulously controlled and efficient dabbing experience. This is the continual pursuit of dabbing science, to create "The Best Dab Ever".

Control Tower Banger FAQ

A Control Tower Banger is a tall narrow banger with a wider bottom dish. They look similar to a terp slurper banger with the bottom dish airflow slits but are taller and more narrow than traditonal terp slurper bangers. When dabbing, the dab is placed onto the bottom dish and inhaled through those slits in the bottom side of the banger.

Some control tower bangers have one uniform tall chamber, while others have a lower chamber and upper chamber. Some control tower bangers have a splashguard design, while others have additional airflow in between the lower and upper chamber.

Some Control Tower Bangers even have a core-reactor or additional quartz around the outside of the banger for increased heat retention.

Control Tower Bangers have a few specific advantages when dabbing with them:

  • Excellent Flavor - Much like the terp slurper design, control tower's airflow path forces the air through the dab. The dab is placed on the bottom dish, with a non-airflow carb cap, like a marble or bullet carb cap forcing the air to be pulled through the slits along the bottom dish of the banger. As the air passes through the dab, each morsel of flavor is captured and pulled into the dab rig. With bucket bangers the airflow passes on top of the dab straight into the neck, only capturing the vapor and not capturing the flavor from the dabs directly.
  • Excellent Terpene Consumption -The same reason the control tower has such excellent flavor is the same reason terpene consumption is so strong. Terpenes are the flavors of a dab and because the airflow passes directly through the dab, the flavor and terpenes are captured for an excellent tasting dab.
  • Increased Surface Area - The tall design of a control tower banger increases the surface area in which the dab can be evenly heated and vaporized. When combined with terp pearls or a terp pillar, especially a tall terp pillar, the even distribution and vaporization is increased tremendously.
  • Less Waste - Natural Splashguard - Due to the height of the banger and the point in which the neck connects to the bangers bucket, the likelihood of dabs flying down the neck of the banger are fairly minimal. This is even more so the case when it comes to control tower bangers with a lower and upper chamber, where the change from lower to upper acts as a splashguard.
  • Vortex Airflow - The angled slits at the bottom side of the banger next to the dish are on an angle such that it causes the air inside the banger to spin, forcing the dabs around the surface area of the banger, evenly. This acts like a blender banger allowing the dabs to be evenly distributed and is even more effective when paired with terp pearls, terp pills or terp pillars.

To effectively use a control tower banger the carb cap should be one which does not have any airflow, this is done to force the airflow to be pulled in through the slits on the bottom side walls of the banger. Carb caps such as Marble Carb Caps, Bullet Carb Caps and Flat Carb Caps are all options which  can be used.

If you would like to increase the air to vapor ratio of the dab, diluting the vapor to make it less harsh, you can use a bubble directional carb cap, or bubble spinner carb cap and mitigate the airflow by placing a finger atop the bubble carb caps intake airflow hole.

To get the most out of the size and vortex airflow of a Control Tower Banger and to increase the dab distribution resulting in a smoother dab which is more evenly heated, using terp pearls, terp pills or terp pillars are all great options. Depending on the height and style of the bucket it is recommended to utilize the tallest terp pillar possible. This will help utilize the entirety of the bangers height, offering the most evenly distributed dab, totally eliminating hot spots and cool spots.

Similar to that of a terp slurper banger, its important to heat the bottom dish of the control tower as well as the lower and upper chamber. Total heating time of 30 -60 seconds is recommended with 60% of the heating time focusing on the bottom dish, 30% of the heating time for the lower chamber and 10% of the heating time for the upper chamber.

So for a 60 second heating time, first heat the bottom dish for 20 seconds, heating the lower chamber for 10 seconds, heating the upper chamber for 5 seconds, then back to the lower chamber for 10 seconds, then 15 seconds for the bottom dish. Wait 20-30 seconds, then dab away.

For cold start dabs you can mimic that heating method but with smaller time increments.
