For both resin and reclaim different things can be done to reduce the amount of reclaim or resin being produced. Dab Reclaim is surely more costly and understanding the whats causing all of that reclaim is the first step in preventing reclaim.

Reclaim is formed in 2 ways:

As the dab vapor cools inside the dab rig, it will turn back to the reclaim form:

• Now there is acceptable amounts of reclaim and excessive amounts of reclaim. That little bit of reclaim found in the rig isn't that big of a deal, however it can be reduce by reducing the amount of water.

Improper dabbing methods:

• In regards to the vapor cooling inside the dab rig, there is only so much that can be done about that. Reducing the amount of water being used helps. Which is partly why micro rigs or mini rigs are so popular for dabbing.

An unacceptable level of reclaim is when a portion of your dab is wasted. Whether due to being left because too much wax was put into the banger, or because it ends up in the neck of the dab banger.

There are 5 main causes of unacceptable dab reclaim levels caused by improper dabbing methods:

1. Flooding the bucket- The easiest and most sure-fire way to cause reclaim is putting too much wax into your banger. To prevent wasting dabs and increasing reclaim, it is important to have a clear understanding of how quickly the banger vaporizes based on its temperature and surface area. That will help determine the Saturation Rate to be used, how much wax is to be put onto the banger without wasting any or causing additional reclaim.

2. Pulling too hard on the rig - This can cause wax to be sucked down the neck of the banger. Excess water inside the dab rig can also cause more pressure when inhaling, causing wax to get sucked into the neck of the banger.

3. High Temperature Dab - When dabbing at higher temps, the first bit of wax to fall onto the banger may splash, especially if your are dabbing reclaim. If you are inhaling when the splash occurs, reclaim can easily get sucked into the neck of the banger. Any dabs above 575 degrees Fahrenheit are more prone to splashing.

4. Low Temperature Dab- If the dab is too cool the wax will not vaporize at the rate expected and may cause the dabber to inhale more strongly resulting in more reclaim. If the dab temp is too cool, instead of wasting wax, be patient and heat or inhale slowly to prevent any unacceptable reclaim levels.

5. Improper Carb Cap or Inserts - Using the wrong carb or improper use of the carb cap can be the biggest culprit causing dab reclaim. cap or insert for your banger can have some negative consequences. Not being satisfied with your dab and wasting it.

The easiest way to clean resin is with Isopropyl Alcohol, like Dr Buzzkill's Iso-Shine and a Dab Swab.
