How to Properly Heat Your Banger and Time Your Hit

When it comes to dabbing, beginners tend to spend all of their time focusing on choosing the best hardware, and little time learning how to dab correctly to ensure satisfying hits. The process of heating a banger is one that can make or break your dabbing sessions and timing your hits improperly can also leave you feeling disappointed.

We know that dabbing can be quite intimidating for beginners, as it is a more precise process than simply smoking herb. That’s why we are here to help.

The Perfect Dab Hit

The best way to time your hit, is to know the banger temp

As the industry progresses, new technology is coming out to enable accurate banger temperature readings.

The new methods vary from laser temperature readers, such as the octave, to touch temperature readers, such as the terpometer. As dabbing becomes more popular, more dab temp meters will be released to help time your dab perfectly!

What Happens if You Heat Your Banger and Time Your Hits Incorrectly

Dabbing is a hobby that can be enormously rewarding. It allows you to enjoy a more potent way to experience cannabinoids and terpenes and can give you stronger flavor with enormous milky clouds. But it’s also a process that requires all of your attention, because there are many ways to unintentionally mess up a dabbing experience. Failing to follow the general guidelines to dabbing can leave you with burnt product, poor flavor, a lack of potency due to burning the compounds or not heating them enough and can even result in a coughing fit.

Furthermore, the high temperatures involved in dabbing can be dangerous if you’re not careful.

Best Method for Heating Your Banger and Timing Your Hit

Let’s talk about the best method for heating your banger so that you can get as much out of each experience as possible, while exercising maximum safety. While the earliest dabbing methods that hit the scene involved super-hot dabs, those have become a thing of the past. Over time, dabbers realized that while this produced an impressive amount of thick clouds, the harshness simply wasn’t enjoyable, and the flavor was disappointing while the most desirable compounds degraded due to high heat exposure.

Now, the most accepted dabbing method is gentler on the throat and the concentrate will still being capable of satisfying your needs and is compatible with both low temp dabbing (315-450 degrees), and high temp dabbing (450-600 degrees).

What You’ll Need...

To heat your banger properly, you’ll need the following:

-A dab rig

-The banger of your choice

-A carb cap

-A dab tool

-Concentrate

-A quality torch lighter

The Process

Follow these steps carefully, and don’t be afraid to do each one slowly the first few times to ensure you’re following the process as carefully as possible. While it may seem like a complicated process in the beginning, we’re certain that you’ll get the hang of it in no time.

Dabbing is an Art and a Science

Step #1: Heat up your banger with your touch until it begins to glow. Then, allow it to cool. This will take anywhere from 30 to 45 seconds depending on the specifics of your banger. Obviously, size plays a role, as larger bangers need more time to cool. The material also makes a difference. Glass and ceramic cool more quickly than titanium and quartz. Make sure to count the seconds to memorize the length of time to apply to future dabbing sessions.

Many first-time dabbers get the timing off for the first few tries, and that is okay. Simply take note of how long you waited last time, and adjust it as needed moving forward until you find your unique banger’s sweet spot.

If the concentrate oil begins to pool when you’re about to inhale, the banger has cooled too much, and so you need to wait less next time. If the concentrate has a burnt taste, you did not wait long enough.

Step #2: Now, you can grab your dab tool and use it to apply your dabs to your banger. The exact amount depends on the size and shape of your banger, and once again, each person’s experience may differ, and require a bit of experimentation before it’s totally right.

Step #3: Place the carb cap to the top of the banger and inhale. Ideally, the banger’s heat is allowing the concentrates to reach the right temperature to give you a nice balance of smoothness, flavor, and potency of the actual compounds in the product.

Final Step: Once you’re done dabbing, you now have to clean your banger. We know that a lot of people do not enjoy this part, but the reality is that it’s important. The high temperatures can cause residue to build up along the banger, which can interfere with flavor and airflow. Simply grab some cotton swabs and wipe down the banger until all of the residue is gone.

So, it’s okay for beginners to need to go for a few tries before getting the process of heating the banger and taking a hit just right. Each banger is unique, as is the concentrate that’s placed inside, so the goal is to follow the steps above and make adjustments as needed the next time you dab. Before long, you’ll get the process down perfectly, and will be able to get as much out of your dabs as possible to ensure a deeply satisfying experience.
