How to Use a Terp Slurper Banger

We know, we know – it seems like every month, there is a new dabbing accessory that hits the market that becomes hugely popular, deemed as the latest and greatest must-have to enhance your dabbing experience. But, with terp slurpers, the hype is real. Terp slurpers are a type of bucket that at first glance looks like what you may already have in your collection. But, to be considered a terp slurper, the bucket must have specific components that can dramatically alter your dabs for the better.

A terp slurper is a great accessory to add to your dabbing routine, as it can give you better flavor while preventing the waste of your concentrates. Still, you can only really enjoy it if you know how to buy the right one and use it properly, not to mention clean it regularly (checkout our how to clean a banger blog here). Luckily, the overall process of enjoying a terp slurper requires minimal effort, with great reward thanks to its many advantages.

Choosing the Best Terp Slurper Out There

The first thing that you need to do is select the best terp slurper available. Of course, you need to make sure that it’s compatible with your rig in terms of size, shape and weight (check out the Banger Sizing Chart). There are plenty of models available on the market, so finding one that is compatible definitely should not be an issue.

You also want to make sure that you follow the same general rules that you apply to buying a typical banger. Choose a material that is durable, heat-resistant, and easy to clean, such as quartz (regarded as the best overall bucket material due to its almost undeniable superiority over glass, ceramic, and other materials that are out there).

Setting Up Your Terp Slurper for the First Time

Before you can thoroughly enjoy your brand new terp slurper, you need to set it up properly so that it’s nice and primed. This is called seasoning, and its main purpose is to fully sanitize it. Even the top-rated companies may have terp slurpers sitting around on the shelves long enough to collect debris and residue that can interfere with your dabbing experience. And, ultimately, you don’t know who has handled it before you, so you want to get rid of any germs.

The process is, fortunately, easy.

  1. Simply apply your torch like you normally would, letting it glows red. Make sure not to torch the joint, which cannot handle the heat like your actual bucket can.
  2. Then, apply a little bit of concentrate or oil to the banger and give it a good swirl.
  3. Allow it to completely burn through.
  4. You now have a terp slurper that is ready to go.

How to Use a Terp Slurper

Time to walk you through the process of actually using your terp slurper to enjoy those favorite concentrates, but before we do so, here is what you will need:

  • A Dab Rig
  • A Torch: You will need a butane torch, as regular lighters won’t heat the concentrates enough to create the process of flash-vaporization that’s necessary.
  • Concentrates: Of course, you will need concentrate, such as wax or shatter. Your dabbing experience is only as good as the concentrates that you use.
  • A Dab Tool: Your dab tool will allow you to easily transfer your concentrates from their package to the terp slurper, while making minimal mess.

Step #1: Prepare your concentrate so that it is easy to access.

Step #2: Use your torch to heat the bottom of the dish for about 20 to 30 seconds, or until it glows.

Step #3: Wait for about 30 to 40 seconds so that your piece can properly cool down. If you have a very precise

temperature you’d like to dab at, grab an infrared thermometer, which can accurately tell you what temperature the terp slurper is at. Also, now is the time to decide if you want to go with a low, mid, or high temperature.

  • Low Temperature (350-400 degrees) Dabs: Usually more flavorful because the terpenes are kept stable by the temperature. Plus, you’ll experience a more manageable potency level, while getting some cannabinoids that can degrade at higher temperatures.
  • Mid Temperature (400-600 degrees) Dabs: Offers an increase in vapor and overall potency, while still providing a nice deal of clean and rich flavor.
  • High Temperature (600-700 degrees) Dabs: Are most common since it creates a super-potent experience and tons of vapor.

Step #4: Now, you can finally place your concentrate into the bottom of the bucket and inhale as you normally would. You can repeat this process as needed.

Note!: beginners to dabbing altogether should start out with just one hit in order to get a feel for the difference in potency that comes with dabbing concentrates.

How to Maintain a Terp Slurper

Once you get the hang of using a terp slurper, you will need to stay on top of it. Due to the high concentration of compounds in dabs, the vapor can carry a whole lot of residues that gets stuck to the inside of the bucket. It does not take long for this to turn the bucket yellow, and eventually black. Cleaning it after each session is ideal so that you can continue to enjoy clean flavor.

To clean your terp slurper:

  1. For a home solution,Soak it in a solution of water, salt, and isopropyl alcohol overnight. If you want a cleaner piece right away use the instant 710 cleaner from formula 420. If you have time to let it sit for about an hour then we highly recommend the Soak-N-Rinse from formula 420. to get the best results and cleanest terp slurper.
  2. Then, the next morning, use a cotton swab to remove any lingering residue – it should be easy at this point, because the solution will have dislodged most of it. Then, rinse it under warm water and wipe it down.
  3. If the residue is particularly tough, heat the banger before wiping it using your torch, as this should turn the residue into ash which rinses out easily.
