Freezable Bongs, Dab Rigs & Nectar Collectors: A Beginners Guide
Glycerin dab devices offer several benefits, making them ideal for dabbing. Dabbing requires balancing vapor cooling and filtration—too much and your dab can get stuck inside the rig, too little and the vapor can be harsh. The key is finding the right level of cooling or filtration that matches your tolerance, optimizing the efficiency of your dab. The goal is to consume as much vapor as possible instead of losing it inside the rig.
The amount of cooling or filtration is dependent upon your tolerance of the vapor volume/ heat or “harshness”. Finding the least amount of filtration you need to dab is ideal for creating the most efficient dab and consuming the most vapor possible instead of having it stuck inside the dab rig.
When it comes to cooling and filtration, there are several methods. The traditional bong passes the vapor through a significant amount of water, cooling and filtering the dab for a smoother experience. However, the preferred method for dabbing is a recycler, which uses minimal water while maximizing cooling efficiency, resulting in an ultra-smooth and effective dab.
There are also frozen or glycerin dab rigs, which utilize a freezable chamber of glycerin within the bong or dab rig to help cool the vapor. Combining minimal water filtration with a bit of the glycerin cooling can really create a smooth yet efficient dab.
3 Different Freezable Glycerin Dabbing Devices:
- Frozen Bong & Dab Rigs
- Frozen Nectar Collectors
- Frozen Bowls / SteamRollers
There are several different styles of glycerin bongs and dabbing devices, from nectar collectors to dab rigs and bongs. Each has its own benefits, but keep in mind, too much cooling and filtration will lead to wasted dabs, as the vapor will cool and form back into reclaim.
Due to the cooling of the dab done by the glycerin, less water filtration is required to achieve the same level of smoothness that more water filtration would achieve. In fact, utilizing just the frozen glycerin to cool down the dab may be enough to smooth out the vapor for a more efficient dab. With a larger volume of vapor being produced and consumed than with water filtration. This is especially the case when it comes to nectar collectors, where a frozen nectar collector will produce less reclaim and a nearly equally smooth dab to that of a minimal water filtration nectar collector.
Freezable bongs, dab rigs and nectar collectors are especially useful when dabbing during the summer. Hot dabs hit differently during the summer, and not having the cool air to cool down your throat after the dab makes the hot dabs irritate your throat a bit more leaving you coughing. Whereas during the winter after taking a hot dab you can breathe in that cold air to cool your throat and prevent excess coughing.
Freezable Glycerin Dab Rigs and Bongs
Frozen Dab Rigs and Bongs allow for minimizing water volume, to help reduce reclaim capture within the dab rig, while still offering a smooth dab. From recyclers to beakers and straight tube bongs and dab rigs there are many styles of freezable glycerin frozen bongs for instance: The Bent Neck Straight Base Glycerin Bong comes with a glycerin bowl to help cool the smoke from the moment its heated. When utilized with a banger the vapor is cooled as it passes through the dab rig. The 8" Height with a bent neck mouthpiece makes this bong super comfortable to dab from. The Wide base makes its very sturdy while the size of the cooling chamber creates a smooth dab, requiring less water filtration which results in a more efficient dab.
Freezable Glycerin Nectar Collectors
Most frozen nectar collectors do not offer water filtration, as the freezable glycerin cools the dab enough to eliminate the need of water, while the formation of the vapor path is optimized to get as much cooling as possible and integrating water filtration would not be possible. As always when it comes to dabbing technology, things change quickly, so it is very possible there will be new frozen nectar collectors with water filtration.
Frozen nectar collectors utilize a coil formation to allow the vapor path to come into as much contact as possible with the cooled glass allowing the vapor to cool and smoothen. There are different sizes of frozen nectar collectors offering different levels of cooling while also offering longer or shorter time spans of the glycerin staying frozen, or chilled. For instance there are some small nectar collectors which have only a little bit of glycerin and a smaller coil vapor path, while there are others that are larger with more glycerin and a longer vapor path for more cooling.
Freezable Glycerin Bowls & Steamrollers
Frozen Glycerin bowls and steamrollers are similar to that of nectar collectors in regards to their glycerin amount and frozen timespan along with the length of their vapor path and resulting amount of cooling. There is no bowl or steamroller that will offer a smoother hit than a freezable bowl because bowls and steamrollers don't have an option for water filtration. You can compare the smoothness of a frozen bowl or steamroller to that of a bubbler, like a hammer bubbler. As the small amount of water filtration that a bubbler offers compares to the resulting smoothness of a frozen bowl or steamroller.
